We are a true Eco Tour company in the state of California using wagons and mules to tour an ancient wilderness. You will have to go to Colorado or Montana in the summer to do something like this. A truly unique western experience. Where can you take a wagon tour pulled by mules into the desert wilderness in the world? No where but here!

We are an authentic and unique desert tour that showcases the natural flora and fauna of the Palm Springs Desert ecosystem. Our live entertainment is professional and very enjoyable. We offer optional dancing lessons, games and great food. The most total inclusive and immersive desert experience in the Coachella Valley. Adventurous, educational, beautiful, unique, fun, delicious, happy, Hallmark Movie is what we have been described on our reviews! The good old days are still here at Covered Wagons!

After spending the week in Palm Desert California we were looking for a fun adventure. Boy, did we find it! We took the covered wagon tour owned by Tom and Bill and we were so thankful that we did that. Upon arrival, we were greeted very warmly by everyone, offered lemonade, iced tea or water, and then waited for the rest of the guests to arrive. We them loaded into the covered wagon and began our journey through the desert. Shelly gave us lots of very interesting facts about life in the desert. Chris really knew how to handle the mules as we wound our way back to an oasis. We even got to get out and explore for about 15 minutes. Once we got back to the starting point we listened to awesome country music, learned how to line dance, watched a trick rope demonstration, and then ate a delicious barbecue dinner consisting of brisket with awesome sauces, chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, corn bread or yeast rolls, and homemade pie! The staff was extremely accommodating and very friendly. Made us feel so at home with the desire to come back again someday! The evening was stopped off by roasting marshmallows over an open fire. Would highly recommend this to anyone.

This was such a magical memorable evening! SO WORTH IT. We were 2 families, 3 kids under 10 and 3 adults. LOVED the covered wagon ride, hearing stories about the desert landscape and wildlife from a lifelong resident, and amazing fun americana music and barn dancing entertainment. The sun setting over the mountains was so amazing and a great opportunity to experience the desert at dusk. I particularly appreciated that this experience included acknowledgment, history and discussion of native peoples and how they value the plants and animals of the desert. This was not a cheesy wild west show! All of this was outdoors (covered) which made it a great option during peak COVID.

My wife and I had an incredible experience at Covered Wagons in Palm Desert, California this weekend. My friend Tom invited us to a friends and family day at the dude ranch. We experienced Nature, Native American culture, geology of the San Andreas fault, an oasis with age old palms, gun slinging, roping, bag tossing, dancing to great country music, Chuck wagon dinner and desert. All of this with some of the nicest and most cordial people I have ever met. This is a must do if you are ever in Palm Desert. Super special experience. Thank you Tom, Milly, Bill, Judy, Sam, April and all of their family. Super cool and we will be back!!!
