Craft Breweries of Portland Walking Tour

Overview
Our small group Eastside Craft Brewery walking tour takes you to the side of the river where the hotbed of innovation has always been, across from downtown Portland in a neighborhood packed with breweries young and old. We'll head toward the river from our inner Eastside shop into an industrial neighborhood rich with food and art, exploring the past and the present of Portland's craft brewing culture.

Portland was a leader in the craft beer industry, and boasts more breweries than any city; whatever your beer love (sours? Craft barrel-aging? Belgians? Wits? Imperial IPAs? Fresh hops, dry hops, no hops?), there's certainly a brewery that made its name in that style. All of these thrive in this neighborhood, where Around Portland Tours makes its home.

The tour in total is 2-3 miles of walking, with just enough beer tasting so you'll know which stop you'd like to return to. We always keep groups very small, so you'll have an intimate experience with your passionate guides!

Excellent tour. Great guide (Madi). Right length of time and distance for walking. The last stop , was the best (Base camp). Met with one of the owners , and were given a tour of ā€œbehind the scenesā€ of the craft brewery.

I was looking for the perfect way to celebrate my anniversary. We wanted something adult but weā€™re not particularly fancy people. This tour was perfect! The hosts were attentive but not overbearing at all and had a ton of amazing information. My husband is a bit of a beer snob and he definitely learned something. The hosts worked really hard to create a temporary community of the strayers on the tour. If youā€™re looking for an experience that is truly Portland, this is it!!!!

However, this is the first tour where the guide did less talking than the participants. We got taken to three brew pubs, given menus and told to pick two beers (in sampler sizes) each. No history of the brewery, no comments, and no recommendations, except for our last stop where the marshmallow stout was recommended and we were given some bread and butter to munch on. Any info or suggestions we got on the various beers came from the staff of the pubs. In fact, since it didnā€™t even seem like they were expecting us, I could have done the same tour with a map and my credit card. Sorry, to be so negative, but it seems to me if youā€™re going to lead a beer tour you should know something about beer and the history of the craft breweries youā€™re taking your customers to.
