Creole Kids Tour in New Orleans

Overview
Take a stroll back in time on this unique 90 minute walking tour of the French Quarter. The teacher-led Creole Kids Tour leads elementary aged kids (and their adults) through 6 blocks of the French Quarter explaining who lived here, why they lived here, and what life was like for kids living here in the 19th century. Kids will see pictures of the past, hold artifacts from the past, and reenact a moment in time. Attending adults will walk away with a better understanding of the city- and some very happy kids! Adults are encouraged to participate or to kick back and let their kids lead the show.

Unlike most of our trips, this one was unplanned. Considering that NOLA is not your first choice kids destination, I was thrilled when I came across this tour company specializing on tours for kids and decided to give it a try. Well, it exceeded all my expectations! Jill, the owner and tour guide, is absolutely amazing with kids. She wheels her cart full of props for the duration on the tour and kids simply love everything she takes out. We did the spooky tour, so they searched for ghosts measuring energy and temperature levels, walked around with swords like pirates, and even made a spell. And all of that, while still learning about New Orleans and its history. If time allowed, I would’ve booked more tours with Jill, especially the Creole one. Not that often my kids are actually asking to go on a tour!!! And I can go on and on about how good this one was. Do check them out!

It's is an amazing opportunity for kids to look around and enjoy and learn new things. We took both tours (Spooky and Creole) and both of them were equally fabulous!

We foiund this online. Have a 10 year old who is very mature, but spooks easily. We tried to sign up for the creole kids tour but it was sold out, so, with some concern booked the "spooky kids tour" for 5-10 year olds. We were concerned the tour would either be "too scary" or 'too lame". As it turned out we had 4 kids aged 4 to 5, and our 10 yr old- not ideal, I thought, The tour guide / owner Jill, did a great job of engaging both age groups, not an easy task. Nothing about it was scary. Jill presented everything about the spirit world and voodoo as being very cool and a bit mysterious, and threw in enough "ghost catching" props to keep the kids fully engaged.. As one of the tag along grownups on the tour, I learned alot about New Orlens history as well, Highly recommended.
