Creole Kids Tour in New Orleans

Overview
Take a stroll back in time on this unique 90 minute walking tour of the French Quarter. The teacher-led Creole Kids Tour leads elementary aged kids (and their adults) through 6 blocks of the French Quarter explaining who lived here, why they lived here, and what life was like for kids living here in the 19th century. Kids will see pictures of the past, hold artifacts from the past, and reenact a moment in time. Attending adults will walk away with a better understanding of the city- and some very happy kids! Adults are encouraged to participate or to kick back and let their kids lead the show.

Our guide for the Creole Kids Tour was Caroline and she was phenomenal. My seven year old, who is usually suspicious of learning on weekends, was entertained and learned a lot. We adults learned a lot too! The tour was fun and informative, and just the right length. I would definitely recommend!

We recently went to New Orleans and took the Creole Tour via FrenchQuarTour Kids. Our young boys -- ages almost 8 and 5 -- loved it. Our tour guide made the tour interesting and engaging for their age. She broke down concepts so that kids would find it interesting and learn something. And she gave our active boys a fun way to understand history and get the wiggles out. I highly recommend this tour to other families with young kids.

This tour was one of the highlights of our family trip to NOLA. The Creole history tour focused on the role of the Mississippi River in the settlement and development of the city. Our guide did an amazing job of bringing that history to life, including the charts, maps and primary artifacts that she pulled out of her cart. I don't want to ruin any surprises for other families who decide to take this tour, so I'll just mention that it was very interactive and included several objects that could be held, viewed and passed around. Our family includes kids ranging in age from 5-16 who homeschool and also have a strong background in American history. We all got something out of the tour. However, I think our younger kids enjoyed it the most. Our teens didn't learn much that they didn't already know and they felt that the guide was speaking more to the littler kids; but they felt that the hands-on component improved their understanding.
