Creek Street, a historic boardwalk set on stilts along Ketchikan Creek in Ketchikan, Alaska, offers a glimpse into the past when it was a bustling Red Light District. Today, it is a charming area perfect for exploring Dolly’s House museum, viewing totem poles, and shopping at unique, locally-owned stores and galleries. Visitors can immerse themselves in local art and culture. During the summer, the creek is teeming with salmon swimming upstream to spawn, while seals and otters frequent the waters.

Herring Cove

Herring Cove is an excellent spot for wildlife viewing, especially black bears, during the right season. The prime time to visit is from mid-June to early September, when the salmon run attracts these magnificent animals. This period offers the best opportunity to witness black bears in their natural habitat.

Absolutely stunning views and such an amazing little town to tour, with the absolute best guide!! Teela is so sweet, conversational, and amazing with kiddos, too!
