Five species of wild dolphins are also seen throughout the year, including mega-pods with up to 10,000 dolphins! Plus sea lions, marine birds, and even sharks. We went out on Thursday and unfortunately we didn't see anything--not even a single dolphin! It was a big disappointment, but I will say the staff bent over backwards to mitigate our disappointment. In addition to giving us a free photo and DVD, they gave us a voucher for a free trip back anytime within a year. Well, since we were only in town for the week we decided to go back and give it another shot the following day. I'm so glad we did! The weather was spectacular and we saw thousands of dolphins. My girls, 5 & 8, were in total awe of the underwater viewing pods. They definitely added a fascinating element to viewing the dolphins. Unfortunately, we did no see any whales, but that's just hit or miss. Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. I definitely think this is a trip worth taking and Captain Dave's will take great care of you!

Great Crew but our day out we didn't get to see many dolphins. Thanks the the Crew, they kept trying until the bitter end when they spotted dolphins and extended our time to enjoy the viewing. THANK YOU!

Recommend taking Manutea - the catamaran. Perfect size. The crew was great and we had perfect weather and calm water for the early morning trip. We saw huge pods of dolphins which was a lot of fun - all around the boat. Unfortunately we couldn't see the couple of brief whale sightings (minkes) and had hoped to see a blue whale but no luck. But it was still a fun trip and worth taking.
