Dark History Tour In New Orleans

Overview
Ghosts, legends, and dark history – this is our most popular tour – a walk through the streets of the Old French Quarter, hearing the history of our city through the stories of its restless dead, it’s old legends, it’s great disasters, and unsolved murders. The stories are those that define our city and it’s people and most unsettling, it all really happened! The only tour in the city to focus on the Dark History of New Orleans--the things that made us what we are, but which the city council would just as soon not have you know! Led by pre-Katrina tour guides, and the only company in the city who features people who were licensed pre-Katrina and residents for decades.

I went to see this tour years ago and it was amazing. It was truly the dark history tour. It was led by Jonathan Weiss. I boasted this tour to all my friends and they seem to have gone soft and left the “dark” part out of the tour. My entire group left halfway through. Embarrassed I suggested it.

Huh. I don't see any reservations for Dark History in the past thirty days, and certainly no "Jessica". So, you didn't go on a Dark History Tour. So, why would you write a fake review?

Really great tour with fascinating information, much of which was new to us, despite our having taken multiple NOLA tours. Our guide, Matthew(?) had definitely done his homework and had great stage presence. If it's an adult-only tour, please explicitly state this on your website. We have been on other similar tours with the kids that managed to cover risqué topics with more graceful innuendo. My only frustration was that it would have been very easy to adjust for the audience. You could keep all the same info, but just phrase differently. Adults understand subtle references. There are a lot of euphemistic ways to say "they liked having sex with sheep" without stating it overtly for all ears. My 8yo and 10yo had follow-up questions that I didn't think I'd be answering for a while (if ever). That was a fun parenting moment.

Jonathan is a wealth of knowledge as his heritage dates back to the area he is personally invested in the history of his community. He truly brings it to life and if you listen, have an imagination you can definitely get a glimpse of what it was like and the suffrage and determination the people had
