This is an excellent tour if you like history. Capt Pete was very knowledgeable. He is very approachable and knows about the area. The boat ride is about30-40 minutes out of Shelter Cove. If the waters are calm, it is a beautiful ride. Plan to get wet if you are at the front of the boat. Arriving in the island, you will then get in a golf cart and drive around. We were a family of 5 and my husband drove a golf cart. Restrooms available at the begiing of the tour on the island and was clean. We visited the major sites of the historical part of the island. We also stopped at an indigo plantation and also a soap factory. We got to meet the pastor of the island and also the church. The whole tour with the boat ride is about 4.5 hours. I would highly recommend it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our excursion with Captain Doreen, who is very both knowledgeable about the history and culture of Daufuskie and just fun to be around! It's clear that she loves her job. We came ahead of our son's spring break and know he learned a lot on "vacation.". Highly recommend. Thanks, Doreen!
