Daufuskie Island Guided History Tour from Hilton Head

Overview
Tucked between Hilton Head Island and Savannah, and accessible only by boat, Daufuskie Island is a real gem. This 4-hour Daufuskie Island trip provides a glimpse into a fascinating chapter of Lowcountry history on the undeveloped side of the island. Meet local artisans and learn the rich history of the Native Americans, European settlers, the cotton trade, and the Gullah culture. We encourage you to wear weather appropriate clothing, and bring water, snacks, and sunscreen.

Please be aware: Our tour is completely structured and does not include a stop for lunch.

The tour was billed as "Daufuskie Island History & Artisans Excursion." I see now the "Artisans" word has been dropped from the title, which is good because there was little if anything about art on the tour. And though the history of the Gullah people is key to the island, we did not interact with any Gullah people. We saw a Gullah church and a Gullah school, but in truth, there was very little to see on the island. There was nothing wrong with the guide or the boat or the golf cart or the island, it's just that the content of the tour was weak, so I need to give it an average rating. Oh, by the way, if you do go I recommend you DO NOT sit in the back row of the golf cart, unless you don't mind sitting behind three rows of people sweating and potentially sneezing while the wind blows whatever viruses back at you.
