We had always wanted to see David Copperfield. Have followed him and admired him for many years, finally got the chance in February 2025, at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. I felt overall his show was a bit flat and the show as well as David, need an updating. He did a couple of really cool illusions featuring a motorcycle, car, dinosaur, and spaceship, but his other tricks where meh. For an unexplained reason, he sprayed everything with Lysol before he touched or anyone else touched, very weird. David also spent an inordinate amount of time talking about his family and upbringing. Then the show detours into weirdness as he brings on stage a miniature robotic alien, Blu...something. It was at best, surreal and the bit of him interacting with the robotic alien went on way too long. David has done this bit for so long that he was literally sleepwalking his way through his lines. it's eerily similar to the show Mandalorian with Grogu. So similar it begs the question of which duo came first and who is copying whom? No drink service inside the theatre and if you want drinks you must buy them out front and bring in ($$$). It was a Wednesday night and the theatre was about 1/2 full. There are no bad seats as it's a small theatre.
There's also a tight cell phone policy and you must put your phone in a box on your table and there are people walking around barking at you if they see you take it out. But then he tells you take it out multiple times during the show. At the end he emails you a rundown of the show as part of a final trick. Unfortunately, the night we were there, his peeps accidentally emailed the results from a different show, and they were identical to the show we were at, proving that just about everyone involved was a plant in some way. I like David, I'm sure he's a nice guy and all, maybe it's time for him to retire and the MGM to refresh the space somehow...sorry.
