What To Expect

International Rose Test Garden

Here you'll get to stop and smell the roses, in the City of Roses, at the oldest continuously running public rose test garden in the US.

Pittock Mansion

Walk around the grounds of Portland's premier French Renaissance-style château, and get a view of the city from above. If conditions are clear enough, you'll also see Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainier, and Mt. Jeffrson.

Oregon Health & Science University

You'll get a ride to the OHSU upper campus, where you can walk out onto the longest suspended pedestrian skybridge in North America, and then hop on the Portland Aerial Tram for one of the best views of the city, from the gondola. Loved this tour. Got to see so much of Portland! Marcus is extremely knowledgeable! Great personality with enthusiastic attitude that radiates his love of showing people around the city he grew up in. He picked us up and dropped us off where we wanted. The van is super comfy, clean, and nice. He assisted with my mom’s wheelchair at each stop. Gave us extra insight on things that were not a part of the tour. Overall such a great time!!!

We don't normally take organized tours, but we heard about Terran Travels from a friend who took this tour a few weeks earlier and raved about it. Marcus is a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide. Since he grew up in and lives in Portland, he offers a lot of insight into the city's history and the sights and attractions. Marcus picked us up at our location in his comfortable van and took us all around Portland. We saw parks, gardens, urban areas, bridges, historical sites, neighborhoods, views and more views. This tour was a very good way to get an overview of what Portland has to offer so we could go back to check out the places that interested us most. It would be good to do this tour on your first day so you have time to go back to some of the locations. We did stop during the tour and spend time at some of the places that were Portland highlights. Since we took the tour on a slow day, Marcus was able to tailor the tour and stops to our interests. Marcus speaks clearly so that you can hear what he is saying during the tour. It wasn't at all like those memorized spiels you get on the hop on hop off bus tours. He's obviously upbeat and interested in what he's telling you. He takes your comfort into consideration: there are rest stops along the way and he provides you with waters. I definitely would recommend this tour, although it might not work for young children.

And, although we welcome kids, 3-4 hours driving around the city in a Sprinter listening to a man wax city history and architecture is a bit much for most kids to bear! ;-D

The tour Marcus provided was fantastic. He picked us up at our hotel on time, and returned us to the hotel too. Marcus is extremely knowledgeable of the area. He is a fun tour guide that is very professional, polite and personable. We will definitely request Marcus again when we return to Portland as he also offers tours of other areas and activities too. Fantastic experience!!!
