We used Old Town Trolley to get around during our recent visit to St. Augustine. It's a great way to visit key tourist attractions. It is a hop on hop off trolley that stops at almost all of these attractions. All of the drivers are well versed about the attractions listed on the stops as well as other facts about St. Augustine. Drivers also made suggestions about getting around on the walking areas in the center. An added feature is that a free shuttle trolley from many hotels on Anastasia Island is available. Our first day there we just did the round trip and never got off the trolley. That gave us a very good introduction to plan our visit. We really didnā€™t need to use our car for the majority of our stay. You should take advantage of this service if you are visiting St. Augustine.

At $26.99 each, we felt it was overpriced. The guides were fine, but the last trolley we rode on needed new shocks/suspension. Bounced up & down on every imperfection in the road. Also, having to BACK OFF the trolley (like climbing down a ladder) wasn't easy for a lot of the passengers. It's too bad the trolley doesn't have dedicated lanes; as our drivers had to stop for a lot of idiots, including a motorcyclist that parked his bike in the way to stop & take a photo. Riders didn't want to move over, had packages on the seats, and there were times people had to wait for the next trolley, even though there really was enough room.

Alaska Mike was awesome as our tour guide. The trolley tour is a great 90-minute introduction to everything historic St. Augustine. Then we knew what we did and didn't want to explore further. Highly recommend for first-time visitors. Nice to use it to hop on and off. We got discount tickets at Hampton Inn on St. Augustine beach and were able to use the trolley for 3 days. Inn has a bus that takes you to the trolley, and you also get free parking at the trolley station.
