This was our first trip to St. Augustine and using the trolley was the best way for us to see the city. There are several packages to choose from and we purchased ours online before our trip. Parking is free with the purchase of trolley tickets. All you need is to pick up a sticker to put on your shirt which allows you to hop on, hop off at stops. The 23 stops take approximately 1 hour and 25 minutes, with trolleys arriving at each stop approximately every 15 minutes. Our first time, we chose to just ride and listen to the drivers narrate the history of St. Augustine until stop 18, Castillo de San Marcos. The drivers were very good and informative. It was so nice to sit and relax and listen, than to drive, fight traffic, and find parking. Parking seemed to run $10-$15 in lots for the day, metered parking at some places and free parking if you purchased a tour at some sights. We would definitely recommend the trolley when you are in St. Augustine!

By doing this affordable means of transportation, you get your bearings and after the entire tour, decide each area of the city to tackle. If the spirit moves you, hop on & off. Take the free maps all over offered and plan visually & you will be HAPPY you did so. This is how we ā€œlearnedā€ St Augustine best & for years now know where we wish to go. Itā€™s great to save steps from one side to the far other where we choose tonā€walkā€ or ā€œrideā€.

This was a fun, convenient way to see as much or as little of St.Augustine as you want. It is especially helpful when you have a hard time doing a lot of walking. I highly recommend this. It was economical too!
