Dogsled and Reindeer Day Trip to Borealis Basecamp

Overview
We work exclusively with local, passionate mushers who view their dog teams as their family, and you will have the chance to understand this incredible sport on your hourlong ride through the snowy forest. You will ride on a genuine dogsled, either seated or standing, as the team of 8 dogs swings through the forest with you and your guide at a comfortable but thrilling pace. You will also have the chance to see the dog kennels, and a replica of a dog-sled race checkpoint, where the competitive mushers stop for fuel and rest on their long winter races.

On your reindeer tour, our experienced reindeer handlers will introduce you to the herd of reindeer at Borealis Basecamp, and you can feed, meet, and take pictures with these incredible animals.

A wonderful experience! Driver picked us up and we drove a beautiful highway to the Aurora Basecamp! A great surprise it is a resort with lots to do and room cabins with view ports built right in! Would be a fabulous place to stay. Of the many activities, we went for a long snowy walk in the woods before we had a delicious lunch overlooking great wilderness. Then we were taken to meet and greet reindeer! After petting and feeding we were taken to dog sleds area! Our musher, Joey was competition level and told us lots of facts about dog sledding. We climbed aboard our sled and watched whilst he let loose 6 dogs, all barking and wagging their tails! He hooked them up in minutes and we were off! They go very fast and it was an exhilarating experience! Absolutely a must do!

Our tour was an unforgettable adventure filled with incredible experiences! The dog sledding was absolutely amazingā€”so exhilarating that we could have done it all afternoon. The mushers were friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer all our questions, giving us great insight into the sport and the incredible dogs that make it possible. Visiting the reindeer farm was just as special. We got to meet Alice, Hank, and the cutest little reindeer, Gary, who completely stole our hearts! To top it all off, we spent time cuddling with the most adorable husky puppiesā€”an experience that made the day even more magical. This tour was the perfect mix of adventure and adorable moments, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a true Alaskan experience!

We had the best time. Everyone at Borealis Basecamp was friendly and knowledgeable and went above and beyond. The property is beautiful! Mushers bring their own dogs to camp every day. The sled dogs are obviously well cared for, we were surprised at how much they enjoyed cuddles! Our reindeer handler was extremely knowledgeable, we learned so much!
