The doors-off Lava & Rainforests Adventure showcases the story of how Hawai‘i is inextricably linked to the elements. You will fly over Kīlauea, what was the most active volcano on earth, and continue towards the crater that was previously Pu‘u ‘Ō‘ō Vent. The windward side also catches enough rain to make Hilo the wettest city in the United States. All this water fills tunnels that once flowed with lava, creating incredible rivers, pools and waterfalls all over East Hawai’i. View Hilo’s lush rainforests, Mauna Loa’s vistas and the plunging Wai‘ānuenue (Rainbow Falls), so named for the rainbows you can see in the mist when the early morning sunshine hits the water.

We had Allen as our pilot. He was very knowledgeable on the volcanos, surrounding geographical features including the water falls. Also Lindsey and Vicky are brilliant administrators. The flight itself was incredible. It was so cool to see the volcanoes and waterfalls. And even cooler to see them with no doors. Thank you Paradise Helicopters!

We had Allen as our pilot. He was absolutely fantastic - very knowledgeable on the volcano’s and surrounding geographical features. Very friendly, cracking jokes. Also Lindsey and Vicky were brilliant administrators. The flight itself was phenomenal. Such a cool experience to be able to see these volcanoes and waterfalls. Thank you Paradise Helicopters.

I highly recommend the doors off helicopter tour from Hilo on Paradise. The views of the volcano and coast were amazing. Though weather wasn’t great the day we went, our pilot, Alan, did a great job of finding amazing sights to see while keeping us safe. We really enjoyed Alan who was knowledgeable and fun. The ground staff was all spectacular as well. The experience is much different from a doors on circle around the island on a helicopter. This one was windy, wet at times, and (relatively) close to the ground. We loved it! Amazing way to see the Volcano and some of the spectacular Big Island coast. 5 stars!
