The Lake View Tour is a wonderful way to get your feet wet while experiencing a helicopter flight in the Smokies. Douglas Lake covers more than 28,000 acres across three counties and has over 500 miles of shoreline. This flight will carry you over the French Broad River toward Douglas Dam and up to the edge of Mountain Cove Marina. On clear days there are beautiful panoramic views of the Great Smoky Mountains in the distance.

What To Expect

Scenic Helicopter Tours

Our Lake View flight will extend you past the French Broad River and take you out to Douglas Lake. Douglas Lake is a 33,000 acre man-made lake with over 450 miles of shoreline. This flight will get you up to 1500 feet in altitude, allowing you to get a superb view of the Great Smoky Mountains towards the South. Along the route you will see areas of farmland and quilt-like patterns of pastures. As you get closer to Douglas Lake you will fly next to Douglas Dam. On most days you are able to see the Plateau off to the Northwest that divides Tennessee and Kentucky. Includes River Ride points of interest you may see along the way: English Mountain, Boat / Jet Ski Rental Areas, Fishing / Camping and Kyker Korn Maze which is (seasonal).

All 5 of the family were FTF so we were a little nervous to say the least. Our fears were soon overcome by the instructions and information given by Justin our boarding attendant. We felt quite safe with the pilot Brad, an ex Marine allegedly, and his calming demeanour when the rear door came open towards the end of the flight. I sat next to him and was not concerned as my radio was working and I could hear him give reassurance but this was not the same for the rest of our group as the rear headsets and microphones did not work. However, this did not distract from a great experience, which we all enjoyed and would do again. I would throughly recommend this tour company.

I booked a ride online for myself and my young daughter (4 years old). The flight we took was $29/pp and well worth it. Brad was the pilot and Matt assisted us while we were there! It was a quick flight (maybe 5-6 minutes or so?) but it was perfect for my daughter because that was her first time flying. Only suggestion I would have for them would be to offer a headset for children that will allow communication. She had ear protection, but wasn't able to talk to me.

Highly recommend! Brad, our pilot, served in our military. I thank him greatly for his service & for providing us with an awesome experience today. Matt our boarding attendant greeted us as soon as we arrived & let us know everything we needed to know to make our experience awesome. We will most definitely do it again when we return 2 years from now & take a longer tour, for sure.
