What To Expect
1
Fremont Street Experience
Meet your guide in downtown Las Vegas to begin your walking tour, during which you’ll hear your guide’s commentary via provided earphones. You won’t want to miss a word about this iconic area known as Glitter Gulch, famous for its old neon signs, classic Vegas casinos and easy-going party atmosphere. Start the former site of the Union Pacific station, which dates back to Vegas’ humble beginnings. Walk along Fremont Street and hear stories about its many transformations, from the peak of the casino years to a downturn in popularity to its revitalization into one of Sin City’s current hotspots once again.
2
Golden Nugget Casino
Check out only-in-Vegas attractions like a swimming pool with a shark tank in the middle, the ‘world’s largest golden nugget, and a display of $1 million in cash
3
Downtown Container Park
You'll then make your way to Fremont East, a new district of restaurants, shops and bars that some call a Vegas version of Greenwich Village. This is where you’ll find locals and in-the-know visitors hanging out until the early morning hours. Your tour ends at the Downtown Container Park, an open-air shopping and dining plaza partially made out of recycled shipping containers. From here, you are free to continue your night out in Vegas on your own. Total walking distance is less than 1 mile (1.6 km); throughout the tour, you may purchase food and beverages at bars and restaurants you pass, but please note that your guide will not wait for you if you are stuck in long lines.

We went on an excellent tour with Kelly and Audrey of Las Vegas Walking Tours! This tour includes detailed information regarding the past, present, and future of downtown that will appeal to both the local and tourist. Of particular interest to us was the historical narrative of the downtown, which was the original tourist destination of the Las Vegas and predates the strip by decades. From old photos and historical anecdotes which are presented along a walk down Fremont street one gets a vivid picture of the immense changes that have occurred over the past 110 years as the downtown changed from small western train stop to the sea of lights, sounds, and motion that it is today. Importantly, the tour is also keen to point out that downtown is far more than just the Fremont Street “experience” and details the success of the current revitalization efforts that have transformed the surrounding area. We have visited downtown many times as tourists and now are local residents, we feel that this tour has provided us with historical insight that will greatly complement our future visits to the area. We have stayed at the Golden Nugget several times without ever knowing that it was one of the stalwart institutions that has survived and expanded while some of the other institutions we have frequented have changed name, location, or ownership repeatedly. The tour also provides great dining suggestions along the way which will certainly be useful for after the tour, because it is definitely important to know where to get a good steak, a craft beer, or a cheap margarita. Audrey and Kelly, thank you for spending your Sunday afternoon with us educating (and getting us excited) about our new home! This is a must for everyone! Cheers, Erin and Garrett
