Dr. Martin Luther King's Tour

Overview
Experience a guided tour of the historic neighborhood where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spent his childhood. Our tour gives an in-depth overview of the life of Dr. King Jr. from his formative years as a youth growing up on historic “Sweet Auburn” Ave, once called the richest Negro street in the world, to his impact as a leader in the Civil Rights Movement. Hear the stories that helped shape his character. You’ll gain insight into Atlanta’s history as well as other movers and shakers such as the city’s first Black Millionaire, on through the struggles of the Jim Crow era. Our guide is a long-time Atlanta resident who has worked for three former Atlanta Mayors including civil rights icon and former U.S. Ambassador. Andrew J. Young Jr.

The guide was very knowledgeable. However Ebenezer Church was closed and that was disappointing. I think the tour could have been longer (include more sites) at the same cost.

Thank you so much for the review. Unfortunately the Ebenezer Baptist Church closed without any prior warning for repairs. We appreciate our guests taking the time to share their experiences - both positive and negative. In order to provide you with the most enjoyable tour. Thank you again.

Greetings Ms. Patricia, It clearly states in our tour description. Although access to the buildings in the National Historic Park, (the Visitor Center, Ebenezer Baptist Church and Dr. King’s birth home) are closed, we are conducting a walking tour of the area and its legendary history. So until your review says, we do tell people prior to booking. Additionally, we email people the same information once they book, to ensure they understand. It is important that clients clearly read tour descriptions prior to booking. Furthermore our tour guide does an excellent job with sharing the history of the area.
