This was a poor tour in that the guide left us to tour the site and read about the history on our own. We didn't eat at Busy Bee's as advertised, as the guide said it's very busy on Saturdays and the wait time is too long. We were dropped off at another restaurant that we visited the previous day on our Southern Food Tour, however we should have gone to Busy Bee's as advertised. We didn't spend any time at the historic black colleges, as we just drove down the street and looked out the van windows. The guide was friendly however that's not enough considering the amount of money that's charged for this tour. This tour company should not be used as we believe Viator could find better for it's travelers.

The driver and guide were very polite and friendly. However, several detractions affect my overall review. Multiple attempts were required to successfully contact our tour conductor. The most important expectation was to receive more comprehensive information on a guided tour that would enhance and provide a framework and broader view of the self-guided portion of the tour. Park Rangers were available for the self-guided portion of the tour which included the interior of MLKs home and the Ebenezer Baptist Church. However, The Heritage Tour fell short of being a guided tour because it did not take advantage of the many opportunities that were available to enhance, frame or add historical connections and other insightful information about Atlantas rich history, the civil rights movement, and Martin Luther King Jrs life. Consequently, the tour had low value for the price paid since the admission is free to each of the national historical sites. Also, the tour omitted the Martin Luther King Jr Center, the Atlanta University Center and MLKs favorite soul food restaurant, the Busy Bee. Instead of the Busy Bee, we were given a 14 voucher to eat lunch at a newly built, modern Paschal restaurant that replaced the original. The food was good, but it had no historical significance other than the Paschal name.
In conclusion, I was very disappointed in this tour because it added no value to a self-guided tour that I could have done on my own.
