Dr. Martin Luther King's Tour

Overview
Experience a guided tour of the historic neighborhood where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spent his childhood. Our tour gives an in-depth overview of the life of Dr. King Jr. from his formative years as a youth growing up on historic “Sweet Auburn” Ave, once called the richest Negro street in the world, to his impact as a leader in the Civil Rights Movement. Hear the stories that helped shape his character. You’ll gain insight into Atlanta’s history as well as other movers and shakers such as the city’s first Black Millionaire, on through the struggles of the Jim Crow era. Even though things were shut down because of the covid19 the tour guide did a wonderful job! She called to make sure we were still going on the tour, she had her facts and information all together. She also had pictures to show because we couldn't go inside. And the best thing about it she took her time and made sure everyone understood and was together. She did a great job..

Miss Stephanie is a wealth of knowledge and such a great guide! My mom and I came out on a rainy Sat morning and Miss Stephanie made sure we had a nice experience. The only thing I will say that hindered our experience was due to Covid-19 all the houses/centers were closed so you could only see the outside and no lunch was included. I feel like the price of the tour should have been adjusted to reflect that.

Miss Stephanie met my husband, our young adult daughter and myself promptly at the arranged time and place. Stephanie is a 30 year resident of Atlanta and was a wealth of knowledge not only about Dr King and family but also the history of Atlanta. We spent the morning companionably also with an excellent Park Ranger docent at the King family home. We sat in the church sanctuary of Ebenezer Baptist Church and it was a profound experience. Then we set off for a delicious lunch at Busy Bees. Gratefully, Stephanie dropped us back at the hotel. We had poor weather but it did not matter we all left with a better appreciation of the life and times of MLK. Highly recommend.

Thank you Mary. I throughly enjoy sharing all aspect of Atlanta to visitors and locals alike. I'm always learning something new about its history, growing communities, politics, food and diverse population everyday. I'm glad the rain didn't "dampen" the experience. Stephanie
