Four of us decided to go to Drunk Shakespeare tonight and got more than we expected. Two of us ended up in the play; with one of us playing the role of the queen.

In the intimate space, everyone is in the metaphorical splash zone. So be prepared to be involved in this Shakespeare revival. Crazy, fun, real, brutally honest and surprisingly relevant, I was laughing nonstop all the while feeling as though this may be the most "accurate" representation of what it must have been like to be in the standing area of the Globe. Drinks may not have been great and a particularly uptight couple did walk out while spouting misogynistic blah blah, but somehow that's kind of the point: it's Shakespeare. It's not for the thin-skinned, it should be relevant to today, it should offend, because it offers a glimpse into humanity. Why should we be so serious about it?

The worst show I have had the misfortune to buy a ticket for and waste my time. Actors could not enunciate their words, (couldn’t afford microphones, I guess). Jumped around with no set plan, like kids in a playground. I looked around the audience , occasionally someone would laugh, but most just looked on, hoping it would get better as it could not get worse. Corny sex jokes, real toilet humour that is so banal , it was painful. My friends and I left half way through, as just too irritating to sit any longer. Unprofessional, amateurish, and just boring.
