We did the 1/2 day trip on upper box of Piedra and had a fantastic time. It was our kids (two 12 year old girls and a 14 year old boy) first time trying white water rafting so we wanted something that was exciting and fun but not too adventurous where they would never want to do it again. We had some back and forth with our guide and this is the trip he recommended and it was perfect. We all loved it. We were also impressed with the call we received the night before from our guide double checking everything so there were no glitches the day of the trip. Our guide, Doug, was serious about safety while making us laugh all day and teaching is about the river and the beautiful setting surrounding us. In addition to a Doug, they rest of the crew was fun, dedicated to making our experience the best it could be. Additionally the food they provided was delicious (including fresh fruit and veges). This is a must do while in Durango and we highly recommend Doug!

Mountain Waters offers many types of trips on 4 different rivers which means we have a better chance than most to create an experience like this. But even more important is that guide, and we have the best! Thank you for the review.

waters were rough during our visit and was advised before our arrival that a family friendly trip would need to be taken. It was, and it was great with enough excitement. Our guide AJ kept us exhilarated, well splashed and safe and sound on the roaring Animas River. His engagement with the passengers who ranged from little ones to grandmothers was terrific. This firm knows what they are doing and project safety and adventure and price their time well. I recommend them.
