We did not rate this tour in terms of content or value for money. It was difficult to locate our guide at the meeting point she had no badge or other means of identification that I could see. She did not make any effort to locate us, although we were on her list. It is billed as early access to avoid the crowds, yet we stood on the quayside with out guide talking while several Statue Cruises ferries loaded up and departed. Since the early access was the main reason for paying the extra money, I found this really irritating. While our guide was pleasant enough, she came over as being inexperienced and it wasn't easy at times to locate her. It became clear to us before long that moving with this group was going to take too long and sadly our guide was not sufficiently entertaining to make us want to remain with the tour so, having advised her, we continued alone and enjoyed it much better from that point. We used audio guides at Ellis Island and these were very good. They are also available at the Statue of Liberty. I would say to anyone wanting to avoid crowds on a July trip, just book directly with Statue Cruises turn up first thing, and save yourself 40 a head. We are a family of four, there was no reduction for teens, so this tour was rather an expensive mistake for us. There are plenty of other things we could have spent that 120 on in New York.
Good value, informative tour. I come to NYC frequently but hadn't been to the Statue since I was in elementary school. This tour was well run, had a visible meeting spot, and was a highlight of our trip. Uncle Jeffrey is a kind, entertaining soul who represents so much of NYC - a place where you can follow your dreams and connect with people from all over the world. He was knowledgeable and passionate about the statute and her history.
We enjoyed the tour very much. It started in time, we were a group of twenty - good to manage and ahead of the crowd. Our tour guide Allison made it a great experience for us.
