East Village Prohibition Pub Crawl

Overview
Discover the hidden, booze-filled underbelly of New York City with the Prohibition Pub Crawl East Village.  On this two and a half hour walking tour, you'll visit pubs that once served as speakeasies during Prohibition along with other hidden bars.

Your tour guide will help make the past come alive.  The 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution later known as the Volstead Act catapulted the criminal world in New York.  See where some of the famous gangster murders and kidnappings in the neighborhood took place.   Learn about some of the historical precedents that led to the Temperance movement and their drive to rid American life of alcohol.  Learn about who some of the major Lower East Side bootleggers were and what they did to earn millions.   And, of course, we'll have a good time sipping vintage craft cocktails made by top bartenders.  It will be the Bee's Knees!

We waited at the meeting spot for over an hour and no one turned up. This was disappointing, frustrating and left me very angry. I would suggest not booking this tour.

Do not book this tour. It is a scam and trip advisor needs to take down. 1. He was 15 mins late 2. He brought an iPad that was not charged to tell us the stories of prohibition. So not prepared at all 3 he made us pay for all drinks at the bar which were supposed to be included. When the bartender brought the bill he acted like it was our responsibility to pay and therefore we did. Total scam. But it is nyc and he is a starving actor so I don’t expect him to be honest or dedicated to his job. Thus for the “starving actor” situation. 4. He forgot where the 2nd bar was and made us walk in circles for 20 mins. Then proceeded to tell us that bars don’t open this early. 5. Every story he tried to tell us was “I think that was the guys name” or I think this is the place. So once again unprepared. 6. At each bar the bar owners or workers provided way more history and information than the tour guide. In fact at each bar it was obvious the owner/ workers did not like him!!!! DO NOT GO ON THIS TOUR SAVR YOUR TIME ANF MONEY!!!!!!

Drinks were supposed to be included and we had to pay for all of our drinks including the tour guides. He was not very knowledgeable either.. he always said, “I think”not “I know!”. Hope we get some $$ refunded
