The educational sail aboard Chicago's Official Flagship Windy departs at 11am Thursday thru Monday from Navy Pier. Leave the hustle and bustle behind, and enjoy a leisurely Educational Sail aboard Chicago’s Official Tall Ship.
Guests will enjoy 75 minute sail where they will learn about sailing and the history of Lake Michigan and Chicago. Ideal for youth groups, children, families and adults.. Chicago's history is forever linked to the history of sailing on Lake Michigan. From these historical maritime roots, guests will be delighted with interesting facts, unique stories, and a healthy dose of whimsy. You will have a chance to help sail Chicago's famous 148' Schooner and you will be rewarded with incredible scenery and photo opportunities of the Windy City.

Enjoy your time on the water — the third-largest of the Great Lakes, Lake Michigan is itself a natural wonder. Your guide will provide live audio commentary throughout the journey.

What a great way to experience the Chicago shoreline . Departure point was from navy pier , you leave and sail down the shoreline to Adler planetarium and back again whilst the crew point out the major buildings on the Chicago skyline . You intially leave using the engine on the boat but once out into the bay it's switched off (wind strength depending) and the sails are raised , audience participation is used to help raise the sails . The crew were knowledgeable of both their ship and the Chicago skyline and had fun facts about most of the buildings to keep you entertained. I picked a day with almost perfect conditions , hot and sunny but with enough wind to sail effortlessly. A great way to spend 80 mins .

We took the 11:00 AM and it was a beautiful day. Good explanation of many of the buildings and fantastic views of the skyline and Navy Pier. It's a nice, relaxing cruise along the lakeshore. We also used a discount by booking the tickets on Groupon.

Bought a ticket for the tour for 08/20/18 - only to arrive and find out it was cancelled due to weather. There as a sign posted on the ticket window. Was told when I called they tried to send an email and call. There was nothing on my phone or email that showed an attempt was made to contact me. Two other friends in my group were not notified as well. Because I was only in town for a limited time I was not able to rescheduled. This is where the BUYER BEWARE I called and asked for a refund thinking since it was cancelled due to the weather they would accomodate me. Their policy "Ticket is not refundable. It is hard for me to write this review because this company states they are a TripAdvisor company and I love TripAdvisor. TripAdvisor is my go to place when I want to find things to do. Oh well out $35.00 ;-(
