Had an awesome time with Holmes. Always nice to get off the Strip. Hubs was reminded last minute about the Lake Mead area by social media (it's like our phones are listening! LOL) and we were pleasantly surprised to find that we were able to book just a couple of days ahead of time. We practically had a private tour -- just one other gal. Even though I managed to fall and scrape myself up before even getting into the kayak, we had a great day. Part of me wished that we were there a little later to try to see the Emerald Cove when it's more lit up, and the other part of me was happy that we didn't have to wait in line. There's plenty of glimmering green along the edges of the river and I think Holmes was right that the little cave might get the online attention, but there's a lot more to see. I might have to do some more arm workouts to do the full-day trip from the Dam, but it sounds fun and I was impressed by how prepared our guide was -- with snacks, first aid, and a sat phone -- I can only imagine the gear they bring on a multi-day adventure. And, he gave us a great rec to stop in Boulder City to see the big horn sheep that just cruise at the park and have lunch at Cornish Pasty.

Thank you for your review! Yes, Black Canyon has so many other special gems besides Emerald cave! Maybe if you come back, you could do an overnight trip and break up the full day of paddling? Either way, we hope to see you again soon!
