• Everyone must go through the security check when entering the building
• No glass or bottles are permitted to be taken to the Observatory
• Cameras and camcorders are allowed, but no tripods
• You can ONLY bring carry-on-size bags and backpacks
• There are no rooms to check coats, packages, baggage or suitcases, so please don't bring them to the Observatory

Masks are optional for all guests at the Empire State Building Observatory Experience. For guest comfort, Observatory staff is fully vaccinated and will continue to wear masks.

As first time visitors to NYC the Empire State Building was a must-see for us. As expected, the view from the top is great. The photo-op in the lobby was also a nice touch. We used a CityPASS voucher so we were able to see the view both during the day and at night.

I went a couple years ago and waited in line probably two hours. This year, it took maybe 15 minutes to get to the top. I would highly recommend going at night. It looks beautiful at that time. Also, do not go during high-tourist season. I went on the Friday before Memorial day and had no problem with a long line.

Visited at night time, fantastic views of the city, the lights are amazing. Entrance was different from what I remembered from 17 years ago when I last visited but always worth a visit.
