Dole created two canneries in Wahiawa and Honolulu Harbor and started advertising, resulting in nationwide consumer popularity. After bringing in automatic pineapple peelers, business boomed even greater. In 1950, a small fruit stand was created in Doleā€™s fields. A plantation-style home was erected in 1989 and turned into an archive and living museum, honoring the work and life of James Dole. 13
King Kamehameha Statue
A great warrior, diplomat and leader, King Kamehameha I united the Hawaiian Islands into one royal kingdom in 1810 after years of conflict. Kamehamehaā€™s unification of Hawaii was significant not only because it was an incredible feat, but also because under separate rule, the islands may have been torn apart by competing western interests. Today, four commissioned statues stand to honor King Kamehameha I, Hawaiiā€™s first king. The most recognized Kamehameha statue stands in front of Aliiolani Hale (home to the Hawaii State Supreme Court) across from Iolani Palace and a short walk from historic Kawaiahao Church and the State Capitol. Dedicated in 1883, this was actually the second statue created after the ship delivering the original statue from Europe was lost at sea near Cape Horn.

This is the best tour I have been on, captain Vince is one of the best guides I have made he makes you feel like family from the minute you get on his bus. He leaves early so you can miss all the other busses at all the stops and get the best pictures without and delays. During the day he teaches you Hawaiian words and treats you with respect I feel like I gained a friend when I left captain Vinceā€™s bus I canā€™t wait for captain Vince to visit my country so I can show my new friend the best places and I will be doing his tour again next time Iā€™m in Hawaii. Captain Vince is the best and we miss him already

The entire tour was MAGNIFICENT! Everything about it from our very knowledgeable and awesome tour guide, Captain Vince, to learning about the Hawaiian culture/language, seeing all of the amazing sites such as Diamond Head, the Byodo-In Temple and the Waimea Waterfall just to name a few, was absolutely AMAZING! If we could do it all over again, we wouldnā€™t change a thing. The experience was unforgettable and by far the best part of our trip! Muhalo Nui Loa Captain, we will be back to visit soon!

Let us start with expectations from the tour. In recent times, I always try to do a local guided tour of the place when I visit the first time. This tour gave a glimpse to a lot of things around the island which is what I wanted. Second, Captain Vince is a good human. He keeps you engaged throughout the tour telling stories about the island and teaching Hawaiian words. He takes you to these stalls where you can get fresh pineapple, coconut, sugarcane juice, lumpiang saging (Filipino fried banana). It is recommended you try these. They are local eats. Third, he has all these spots and activities like feeding birds and ringing the bell in the temple where he takes pictures of the group and shares immediately. That said, I would recommend the tour. There are enough breaks for snacks, restrooms and souvenirs. It is well paced. We had a small group. So that helped as well. The stops themselves are great as well. Diamond Head Monument has good views. We could see some activity of Halona Blowhole. The waves weren't too high. Byodo-in temple is very serene. We rang the bell and fed some birds. The macadamia farm outlet has some good flavored samples. It also has great hot sauces. There is also coffee to taste. Lunch is around 12 pm at Kahuku Shrimp Shack. The spicy garlic shrimp is amazing. It is cooked with skin on to hold in the juices. Captain Vince preorders it so food is fresh and hot when you arrive there. Waimea waterfall and the botanical garden were good. There was some water in the waterfall. You have a choice to go to the beach instead, opposite the garden. You have the most time to spend here as you can swim near the waterfall. You only visit the Dole plantation store. The tours are longer. We drove past Iolani Palace and Kamehameha statue. Along the way we spotted couple sea turtles swimming ashore Laniakea Beach. We got fresh lei on the way back. The lei flowers have an exotic fragrance. Mahalo nui loa! I still remember the words.
