Step back in time and explore the historic Smallwoods Store Museum. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum stands frozen in time, a window to a bygone era when the store was the islands trading post and island life revolved around the activities here.

Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park

Nature Walk through a grove of ancient cypress trees out to a "gator hole" where female alligators have been nesting for decades.

All of our guides were so passionate about the wildlife and the history that is was contagious! They answered questions I would never have thought of asking. It was so exciting to see a manatee in it's natural environment. The lunch spot was so special with local spirit - a true gem. Also, I wish I could ride the airboat again....

From the hike to the air boat ride this day was awesome. Heidi was an excellent guide and WONDERFUL with children. I was so surprised by the amount of gators we actually got to see. It is so incredible to see them in their own environment. Heidi put all four children in our group (two were ours) in the front seat. That was a plus in my book. :) The time spent with the snakes and alligators was NOT rushed and she answered all the questions asked. Air boat driver was great at pointing out where t he gators were.

We had a wonderful day! The highlight was our skiff captain, Gary McMillan, who was able to get the dolphins to play in our wake! But our tour guide for the day was awesome; she really displayed her passion for the natural environment and made sure we were well taken care of.
