Everglades National Park Small Group Guided Boating & Walking Tour Expedition

Overview
This is a premier learning experience in the Everglades Area and is superb for the entire family... from toddlers to the grandparents. Limited to just six guests, it is a personalized eco-adventure. Every day is different in the Everglades and 10,000 Islands so we try to be very flexible and dynamic. The tour may/will include a bit of birding, some photography, strolling thru tidal pools, shelling on a remote beach, exploration of one of the 10,000 Islands and/or beach seine netting for underwater life. The first part of the experience is a guided boating eco tour in search of the areas rich wildlife. The second part is an interpretive, guided walk on a remote barrier island to explore the island's beaches, tidal pools and inter-tidal zones.

We had a great time. Kayaks were out for our family, but the three hour boat tour of the Thousands Islands brought the Everglades to live. We saw: White pelicans, dolphins, nesting Osprey, needle-nose fish.. and more. Our guide was knowledgeable & fun.

With limited time on a flying visit to Florida (while visiting the US from Australia), and only two days in the Everglades, we were not disappointed by this tour. Our visit coincided with a very low tide combined with winds that had pushed the water offshore, so the trip could have been aborted or mostly spent aground. However, Jerry our guide skilfully negotiated the shallows and sand bars and gave us a fascinating morning learning about the short and long-term effects of Hurricane Irma on the dynamics of the islands, the mangroves and Florida coastline. We also managed to see and photograph enough wildlife to keep my husband happy. We saw nesting osprey, various species of herons, white and brown pelicans, cormorants and kingfishers. A highlight was the half hour spent watching dolphins herding fish into the shallows. When they had eaten their fill, a couple followed us, surfing the wash behind our boat. I guess what you see on any one trip is serendipitous, but based on our experience, we would gladly recommend the tour.

Thanks for taking the time to write this review. The dolphins, in their natural settings, are special everyday.
