Everglades National Park Small Group Guided Boating & Walking Tour Expedition

Overview
This is a premier learning experience in the Everglades Area and is superb for the entire family... from toddlers to the grandparents. Limited to just six guests, it is a personalized eco-adventure. Every day is different in the Everglades and 10,000 Islands so we try to be very flexible and dynamic. The tour may/will include a bit of birding, some photography, strolling thru tidal pools, shelling on a remote beach, exploration of one of the 10,000 Islands and/or beach seine netting for underwater life. The first part of the experience is a guided boating eco tour in search of the areas rich wildlife. The second part is an interpretive, guided walk on a remote barrier island to explore the island's beaches, tidal pools and inter-tidal zones.

This 3 1/2 hour tour was extremely enjoyable. Our guide, Captain Jason was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. On the tour we were able to photograph a baby bald eagle in the nest as well as other beautiful birds. After kayaking to an island with a Sandy beach we happened to see a stingray at the waters edge. Captain Jason showed us shells and corals including a horseshoe crab shell and was able to answer all of our questions. I loved the variety of boating, kayaking and being able to experience the Everglades first hand on the island walk. I have already recommended this tour to a few of my friends. Bring a hat, water and a camera and enjoy.

There was a lot of open water travel, and less into the interior of the Everglades which was somewhat disappointing. Saw quite a bit of wildlife, however, including hunting dolphins and nesting bald eagles. Our guide was pleasant, but instead of telling lots of tales about his life, business background, parties he'd been to, and drinking antics, we would have appreciated more info and stories, history, ecology, biology, etc. of this unique and beautiful place. We received some of this kind of info but know there could have been so much more from a true naturalist.
