I hesitantly booked the excursion through the hotel after reading some reviews about it being touristy and not seeing a lot of gators. We were pleasantly surprised. The driver picked us up from the hotel promptly at 840 and we had a few quick stops at other hotels to get other passengers. The trip to the park was quick and we immediately were organized to board the airboat. About 8 others were there ahead of us so we were in the middle of the boat. The views were still good as the captain will move the boat around so everyone can see. He encouraged passengers to switch places though no one really needed to. I am glad we had Captain Chaos- this is a dude that clearly loves his work and his enthusiasm for the alligator is clear. We saw eight alligators! He had engaging stories to tell about the gators and their personalities throughout the ride and got us up close and personal with the animals. He also shared information about the habitat of the Everglades. We were a bit late for the start of the gator show but it was mesmerizing to see one of the gator boys work with the alligators. Be careful- the van driver uses an iPad to charge and I accidentally gave a 15% tip on a 200 bill (yikes) and I mistakenly thought the tip would go to the park and animals and not just the driver. The captain and gator boy show have a tip jar and I wish I didn't tip the driver as much as I did so I had some cash leftover! I knew it would be a touristy event but my teens and I had a great time. It's one of those things you just have to do and we were back in the hotel by 1pm to enjoy the beach. I am glad we took the first bus out and I recommend going earlier because it looked a lot more crowded when we left. Get Captain Chaos /Looney boat if you can!

Even though the entire experience was a bit short for me, I still had a good time. From the driver, to the narrator in the boat, and the show, all were courteous and knowledgeable. But the star was the small alligator I held in my hands for a picture. I recommend this activity, specially if you have not visited the Everglades yet.

Targetted at families with younger children. The air-boat driver, Dylan, made it interesting and exciting with his commentary, intermittent high speed rides, alligator spotting, nature talks and survival tips, but the afternoon was let down by the bus ride to the park. The bus was rickety, old and hot and the commentary, which may have been intersting, was muffled and inaudible, which made the journey to and from the Everglades Park tiresome
