Experience Raptors and Falconry

Overview
A GROUP of attendees are given the opportunity for a unique experience into the life of a Raptor with an up close and personal encounter with Hawks, Falcons and Owls.

With the assistance of a licensed Falconer, you will learn the biology, conservation, field identification, traits, behaviors, natural history, and the importance of raptors.

Following a brief instruction guests will be fitted with a gauntlet and join a trained Hawk on a short walk – witness the agility and skill as she flies from perch to perch while swooping back to the Falconer’s gauntlet.

What a fun and unique experience!!!! We visit Reno/Tahoe each summer from Houston and saw this pop up this year. Gave it a try and LOVED it! There were seven in our group and everyone was astonished by these magnificent birds. The falconer was relaxed, informative, and very attentive to her birds. We had a peregrine falcon, some type of LARGE European owl, and a Harris hawk for our demonstrations. We each got to "hold" one on our LEFT arm and it was awesome! Pictures we took were great! THEN we went for a short walk with the hawk flying around and onto our armed glove to feed on a piece of meat. At one point while the falconer was holding her, the owl caught site of something and just watching her head's demeanor change was truly eye-opening. The birds were well-trained and it was an experience for a lifetime. Note: we were in the middle of nowhere, outside of Reno, in a 30+ mph wind---for 2 hours. Still worth it!!!!!

Hello again -- my apologize for the tardiness in thank you not only for coming out but for a wonderful review for all to read and understand our experiences. I am glad to hear you enjoyed your time with us especially since we were plagued with such awful weather -- so, so windy. Thank you for assisting with keeping the birds from blowing over, that was crazy. Glad you had the opportunity to attend, hope to see you again. Best, Kathleen

Kathleen was very informative and knowledgeable. Birds where great. Having Owl sit on your arm was cool, watching hawk fly to you and watching it walk for it was being rehab and falcon was just incredible and beautiful. Learning how she rehabs them and how they hunt made it more fun. It was a great experience and perfect since it was just me and my husband.
