Explore San Diego Tide Pools with a Marine Biologist

Overview
Adventure with a marine biology educator along the coast and learn more about wildlife living in the intertidal zone of San Diego. Great for all ages and skill levels. There are some stairs and lots of uneven terrain we will walk on, so this is not a wheelchair-friendly activity.

I taught middle and high school marine biology for more than a decade before committing to environmental tourism! With fifteen years of teaching youth and adults in outdoor education settings, plus my background in conservation biology, provides guests with in-depth (pun intended) knowledge of marine life during our tide pool exploration.

Groups are kept small (10 people maximum, with exceptions for private groups/families) which makes this a more intimate and personal experience.

Excellent experience, Matt the consummate host and professional. Had not realized what marine life existed in the pools, even as a local. Would highly recommend.

This experience was incredible! Matt was a terrific guide. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the tide pools, the geology of the area, and the timing needed to score some great finds in the tide pools. It’s great how dedicated he is to ensuring visitor understanding of the basic ecology of the pools- it’s easy for first timers to gain admiration for the biodiversity found in them! He took us around many different spots along the beach, allowing us to find several species of fish, hermit crabs, and much more. This would be an awesome experience for families, couples, friends, retirees- anyone wanting to explore and learn more about this unique habitat! Would highly recommend!
