What To Expect

Chena Lake Recreation Area

Your guide will meet you at the deluxe fishing cabin on the frozen lake and guide you through the process of catching fish through the ice for the lakes bounty of fish.

We are a family of 4, with very little fishing experience. Our visit was during the winter and the thermometer showed -41 degrees on this day. It's not hard to imagine how happy we were inside a warm cabin sipping away hot chocolate on a day like this! Our guide Trevor was a very nice person, very knowledgeable and spent time with us to first show what we are supposed to do. We caught salmon in the cabin. We then braved the outside and caught some trout. The cookout was delicious and Trevor tried his best to make sure everyone was pleased with the cookout. On average everyone caught 2-3 fish in the cabin. We kept the amount we would eat and let go some others. I would highly recommend this excursion. It is a memory we will hold onto going forward.

Our guide Josh was amazing! We has a great time and caught 6 king salmon and one rainbow trout! Josh cooked the first three we caught perfectly, and they were delicious. The accommodations were very warm and comfortable. We are beginners to fishing, and we were all able to catch at least one fish each. Overall, I highly recommend this experience!
