What To Expect

Hana Highway - Road to Hana

The Hana Highway is a 64.4-mile-long (103.6 km) , longest, coastal scenic route in the world. To the east of Kalepa Bridge, the highway continues to Kipahulu as Hawaii Route 31 (the Piilani Highway). This tour covers 59 single lane bridges, over 640 turns and curves, through lush, tropical rainforest. Most of the concrete and steel bridges date back to 1910

Ho'okipa Beach Park

Ho'okipa Beach is considered the windsurfing capital of the world, you can enjoy watching wind surfers, kite boarders and surfers challenge the oceans waves and shoreline winds. This is also the Threatened Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle capital of Maui, with 200-pound turtles feeding along the shoreline and basking on the beach all day long.

Bamboo Forest

Ke‘anae Point

Small Hawaiian villages doing their best to live like the Hawaiians of old. Hunting pigs and growing taro, bread fruit, and Bananas are all big parts of everyday life in this small community. It’s also the site of the famous Half Way to Hana Snack stand; shave ice, fresh coconut, cold drinks and of course the Original Fresh Baked Banana Bread. The Keanae overlook and peninsula offer views of one of the largest taro farms in Hawaii.

Kaumahina State Wayside Park

Kaumahina State Wayside Park or Kaumahina State Park, is located in Maui County, Hawaii, 28.3 miles East of Kahului and 22.4 miles West of Hana along the Hana Highway. The park consists of 7.8 acres of forest and exotic plants

Upper Waikani Falls

Upper Waikani Falls is often referred to as Three Bears, thanks to the three separate but parallel falls of differing lengths—with the third and smallest being the “baby bear” falls on the right.

Wailua Falls

Wailua Falls is perhaps the tallest roadside waterfall on the Hana Highway. This is most popular waterfalls and most congested. For everyones safety we will make a stop here if it is safe to do so if there is a parking.

Kipahulu

We'll drive over Oheo bridge and you will be able to see the 7 sacred pools, in the famous Kipahulu area.

Pua'a Ka'a State Park

It is fairly easy to access the waterfall from here. Some people like to take a dip in the chilly waters by the waterfall and on a hot day. Wear swim suit layered and bring change of clothes. Don't forget the towels.

Harold Rice Park

Rice Park is located across from Kula Country Farms on Lower Kula Road with a beautiful bi-coastal view.

Kaupo

Once you've seen all there is to see on the Road to Hana, we'll start to drive along the backside of Hana. You'll be amazed at what a different world that is!

Eric was awesome and super knowledgeable, and very good driver on those narrow winding roads. The history of Hana and the surrounding land was retold well. The banana bread stand was a stand out side trip.

The only negative I can even come up with is that it started so early! Totally understand why so they could have everybody back safely before sunset! Rich was our driver and tour guide and he was delightful. He is filled with all types of stories, trivia, and as he will tell you lots of dry sense of humor. And he’s able to tell you All of these stories and tidbits will safely maneuvering Mercedes van on these teeny tiny roads that are filled with all types of twists and turns. Some of you who are prone to motion sickness might say there’s no way you can do this. Not true at all as I do suffer from motion sickness. The secret is to prepare by taking your meclizine or Dramamine an hour ahead and to try to get a seat where you’re towards the front of the van and can get a good view out of the front. I was able to sit in the second seat in the middle and it was perfect. Rich also kept the very front seat for those that need it to have it due to severe motion sickness. There were many stops along the way to take in the beautiful scenery and enjoy the beaches . There were some stops that were comfort stops for restrooms and snacks. If anybody is worried about not having frequent enough access to restrooms, and this tour there are no worries. I feel like the actual drive ,especially when we got on the portion of the road Rich said they call the divorce highway, was the main event. The stops along the way and the mini photo opportunities was just icing on the cake. The banana bread at the famous stand is delicious and definitely worth buying a loaf For 8 dollars. The sandwich , chips and fresh pineapple lunch was perfect. This tour experience was so good that I can’t even come up with one suggestion on how it could be made better!!

My group and I had a lovely time on our tour. Rich was our guide, who was very friendly and knowledgable. Very accommodating and made sure we were comfortable throughout our 10 hour trip. Will definitely recommend and will be book next time!
