We took our 3 teens on the Fins zipline course through Soaring Adventure while staying at the Broadmoor over Christmas, and it was AMAZING. Even the drive up Stagecoach Drive was an experience - we drove past gorgeous mansions and then up a steep and curvy dirt road that afforded excellent views of the hotel and beyond. We were dropped at the side of the road to a path through the woods that brought us to a wood structure where we were outfitted up and given a test zip so we could learn how to properly self-brake. All the while, our guides were witty, well-spoken, and extremely personable. From here, we started with the first 3 ziplines, which were around 200 to 500-ish feet (I think), and entirely through the trees. That's when things got REAL. After coming off the 3rd platform, we were at the edge of the canyon, and we saw the two 200+ foot suspension bridges, and waaaaaaaaayyy off on the opposite cliff wall, we could barely make out one of the platforms which appeared to be about postage stamp in size, and maybe Elmer-glued to the canyon wall. Our guides were all about safety, and made sure that we always were correctly hooked into the various safety roping and such, and the lead guide had a great repertoire of corny and off-color jokes. They brought us across the suspension bridges and then told us about the hanging platforms we stood on, as well as the marvel of construction engineering it took to build this entire zipline course. The next 2 ziplines were the point of no return (unless you wanted to go all the way back across the 2 slightly swaying suspension bridges that were over sheer drops of hundreds of feet), and were 1200 and 1500 feet respectively. The fact that we had to self-brake definitely upped the ante and the need to be focused, but the guides also had a back-up braking system they could deploy just in case. The longer zips were incredibly exhilerating - you were flying but had enough time to look around and enjoy the scenery of jagged cliffs, deep valleys and incredible vistas before you looked for the signal to start slowing down. The last zipline was so fast - you could be going up to 45 mph! The final 'zip' was a controlled descent repel which was super easy - once you got over the fear of stepping off the edge. The entire experience from start to finish was fantastic - we took so many pictures and videos and have shared them many times over with friends and family as we recounted our stories from the day. Would highly recommend this to anyone that doesn't have a serious fear of heights - my comfort level was definitely tested, but I am so glad that I did it!
