What To Expect

Sky Combat Ace

• Recon: Ride along with an actual fighter pilot instructor in the most advanced aerobatic airplane in the world. Experience 10 minutes of thrilling basic aerobatic maneuvers and take in the beautiful views San Diego has to offer. • Afterburner: YOU take the controls along with a certified flight instructor pilot and experience dynamic low level flying and aerobatics including loops, rolls, tail slides and more! • Sky Combat: The adrenaline will be pumping on this aerial dog-fight! You and a friend can test your skills against each other. Under the supervision of highly trained fighter pilot instructors, you are at the controls, squeezing the trigger, scoring hits on your opponent. The latest technology is used to ensure the most realistic simulation possible!

Unbelievably awesome!!! I've jumped out of a plane, bungee jumped, but this one is the thrill ride of a lifetime! Getting to take controls of a combat plane is like no other experience! Then the pilot does some acrobatics for you at levels you can handle...I got up to 8.5 Gs! Unreal! Must do for any adrenaline junkie!

Just like the other reviewers I can't say enough good things about Sky Combat Ace. I saw that they had come to San Diego while at an airshow and signed up for the Top Gun package. I've always been fascinated with acrobatics and when i found out i could fly the plane and do some of the maneuvers I couldn't pass it up. The check in process was smooth and easy. The hanger at the airport is designed to get you excited as soon as you walk in. After a quick and easy check in with Fe I was given my briefing by my pilot was Rick "Tex" Coe. He showed me what we would be doing and assured me he would talk me through what i forgot. After some picture is was into the Extra 300 and into the air. I added the tour of the coast and I wasn't disappointed. We headed for the coast near La Jolla and Tex gave me control of the plane. He took over as we flew up point loma and then past downtown and Coronado. The view was really cool. Next we headed out to the area for the acrobatics. This part of the flight simply blew me away. Rick would first do the maneuver while telling me what he was doing and then he would hand the controls over to me to repeat. He gave such detailed and easy to follow instructions i was able to do rolls, a loop, hammerhead and tail slide. Next he took me through some more advance acrobatics including tumbling the plane end over end! The acrobatic portion concluded with the high G turn. I made it over 7 g's before having a short Glock, and the video is hilarious. The next portion was a close to the ground bombing run on one of the islands in the reservoir. Seeing the ground flash buy while banking left and right had me laughing non stop. The flight concludes with a landing unlike anything i've done before with a pass over the runway and a quick bank to the landing. Once back in the hanger Fe was right there i was able to relax in the AC and let the adrenalin wash away. You come away from this feeling like you were with friends who couldn't wait to share the fun that they have. One final word of advice. Buy the video package. I got the one that shows three views and telemetry information on the G force, airspeed, and altitude. I've shown it over and over to friends and most crack up at how much I'm laughing and enjoying all of it. You won't regret having the video so you can show them what you did.
