Flattop Mountain Trail
This is the perfect tour if you are looking to go on an easy hike, learn about Alaska’s vegetation and animal populations, and see one on the Chugach State Park’s most photogenic alpine valleys. We’ll start by meandering through hemlock forests scarred by thrashing leeward winds from the Turnagain Arm. Snowshoe Hares make their homes here attracting the rare lynx living in the area. Wild geraniums, bluebells, and forget-me-nots pop up In June and blissful blueberries, funky fungi, and changing colors tell us when summer is coming to a close. The flora and fauna of the Glen Alps tell us a story of an ecosystem living in harmony just outside of Anchorage. Moose and bear birth their young in spring and mate during the fall months. They travel through the mountains and valley in search of their favorite browse, providing ample opportunity for wildlife viewing and photography. Transportation included in total time of tour: (1 hour transportation & 2 hours walking)

Go Hike Alaska was amazing! My friend and I came to Alaska and booked this hike/walk through a tour company and we’re so glad they chose this company! Our guide, Caleb, was fantastic - we were able to go further because we moved fast, so we got to see some incredible views thanks to his expertise! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Go Hike Alaska to anyone

Our family had a wonderful time hiking with our guide Caleb! He is clearly passionate about what he does and is extremely knowledgeable. Caleb was able to point out a bunch of native flora that was edible and we were even able to try some of it! We had different ability levels in my family and Caleb was able to cater to all of us, and the tour is capped at a small number so we were the only ones - it was basically a private tour. The views were beautiful and Caleb even helped us take pictures together! We did not feel rushed at all, and this was a fantastic way to spend our first day in Alaska.

A wonderful afternoon hike in Alaskan sunshine. The company was great from the moment I booked and communicated well prior to the tour. As a solo traveller this was very reassuring to know. Caleb was an excellent tour guide and tailored the walk to suit us. He gave us options for the route and took the hike at our pace. There was only one other person on the tour so it felt like a private tour. Caleb was really Informative and stopped along the way for us to sample the berries (and tell us which ones to stay clear of!) The park is beautiful and there were lot of opportunities to take photos and just take in the surrounding. I learned more about the Alaskan wilderness in the three hours on this tour than I did over the course of my three week trip. No bears seen on this trip but it was incredible knowing we were walking the same paths as them. Worth getting out of the city for.
