What To Expect
1
John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park
John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park protects America's only living coral reef. The reef is over 5,000 years old and is home to nearly 1,400 different species of marine flora and fauna.
2
Anne's Beach
This is undoubtedly one of the more picturesque relaxation spots in the Florida Keys. Not only is it one of the few natural sandy beaches here, but it’s also completely free. It’s also got public restrooms, pavilions with picnic tables, and a 1,300-foot boardwalk.
3
Sombrero Beach
Sombrero Beach has everything you could want from a tropical shore: white sand, swaying palm trees, bright blue sea. The water is crystal clear, making it a great place to spot marine life as well.
4
Seven Mile Bridge
The Seven Mile Bridge is exactly what it sounds like: seven straight miles of driving over the beautiful blue ocean. It's the longest bridge in Florida and one of the most iconic spots in the keys.
5
Pigeon Key
Pigeon Key is home to a haunting ghost town, which is accessible via ferry and visible from the highway. During the construction of the overseas railroad, this was home to workers building the rail. Now, it's totally abandoned.
6
Bahia Honda State Park
The park features hiking trails, a natural lagoon, spots for picnicking and fishing, and a two mile long shore once rated as the #1 beach in the entire United States. It also has a wide variety of wildlife and plants, including some that are only native to this one island.
7
Key West Tropical Forest and Botanical Garden
Founded in the '30s as a Depression recovery program, this garden preserves and showcases plants and trees native to the keys. It's a great place to learn more about the local flora.
8
Mallory Square
This is the absolute best place to watch the sunset. As afternoon draws on, entertainers, food vendors, and crowds of eager visitors gather here in preparation for the unforgettable sight.
9
The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum
In the 1930s, famous author Earnest Hemingway lived in this house. As the author of books like The Old Man and the Sea, For Whom The Bell Tolls, and The Sun Also Rises, Hemingway is an essential part of the American canon.

We loved this! We got it right before our trip and it was a lot of fun. Good details about landmarks. Really helped break up the drive and we wished there were more guides for more trips! How many times are you along the road trip and want to know details of something. A couple highlights lead us to stops and other tours. Just an awesome option for the drive through the keys.

I did some yoga at dog park in key west. It was the most relaxing enjoyable time. Really a place you can go to become more clear minded and energized. Everyone seems really nice and the atmosphere is laid back, I recommend anyone who needs a break to come to key west and download the action tour guide app. Thanks to the community for all their help.

There was a description of the Blue Hole Quarry and tour said to turn right on 21st to see it. However 21st street does not exist. Using maps we found it under a different street name. We also found two large gators in the quarry so was worth it! Very informative tour-Help fill the drive. Other than giving the wrong street name and it startles you when it speaks it was a great self guided tour! Definitely recommend!
