Food Carts of Portland Bike Tour: local flavors and stories

Overview
Portland’s famous food carts are scattered all over the city's five (now six) quadrants, over 600 in total, in over 60 pods — collections of food carts! Starting at our shop, 833 SE Main Street #121, we'll put you on one of our lightweight bicycles and guide you on a 8-12 mile (11-17 km) culinary experience through some of our best-loved chefs and makers, sampling everything from Oregon farm-to-table delights to snacks appropriate to late-night cravings.

Our focus is on locally-owned businesses with a great story; we’ll take you to a few of our favorites, many of which were important in creating the food cart scene as it exists today. Without these unique and passionate people, we may not have even half of what Portland offers to residents and guests alike. Expect flavors and fusions that tell not only a culinary, but also a cultural, tale. Bikes, helmets and plentiful food samples provided.

We keep groups small, so you'll have an intimate experience with your passionate guides!

1
Ladd's Addition
In the Ladd's Addition neighborhood is the heart of the original food cart scene and we'll set the scene by trying some of our favorite coffee and discussing our route for the day.
2
Hawthorne
Hawthorne Boulevard is part of our hometown story: the heart of all that's delicious, funky, and hippie, a thoroughfare with a street food soul! We'll ride into our personal and the city's foodie history (this goes back over a century!) and stop at a special coffee food cart made in a unique vehicle. Here we'll get some caffeinated beverage (if that's what you like) to begin our day!

My partner and I had a wonderful time! The food was delicious, and our guide, Dustin, was accommodating and entertaining. He was very transparent about each step of the tour, and had such interesting facts about the city to share. We would recommend this tour to anyone!

This was an extremely pleasant ride filled with fascinating stories and fabulous food. My guide was very attentive to the group’s individual riding levels, and offered a wealth of unique perspective and interesting information about the areas we rode through, and the things we were seeing. My only regret was that this tour wasn’t longer! I look forward to my next adventure with Around Portland!

A great tour! This was an excellent way to spend our first day in Oregon. Portland is possibly the most bike-friendly city in the U.S., and we felt totally safe cruising through Southeast Portland on comfy and well-maintained bikes. In addition to four amazing food stops, we rode through the beautiful, tree-lined streets of Ladd's Addition and saw gorgeous homes and learned interesting history from our great local guide Dustin. We explored a dreamy neighborhood rose garden and learned about the city's interesting rose culture. And the food was phenomenal! Local coffee, French pastries, and heavenly and substantial eats from two creative cuisine food trucks - all were local gems we would not have found on our own. After a very enjoyable three hours of great food, good company, and light exercise in a truly beautiful city, we were full and happy.
