I have lived in the Richmond district, just one block away from Clement Street, the most diverse culinary destination in San Francisco, for over 30 years. I've seen the changes over the years and am so glad it finally got its due recognition as one the most authentic, vibrant, and inclusive neighborhoods. I am a shameless foodie, and a world traveler. If you are interested in experiencing everyday life, eating and shopping in a real San Francisco neighborhood, this tour is for you.

What To Expect

We will meet at a local coffee/wine bar, I will share the history and background of this seemingly non-descriptive stretch of city street and introduce you to the gems only the local know and love. This was an incredible experience—fun, delicious, and unforgettable! Joyce’s passion for food and her deep love for San Francisco shone through every moment of the tour. She introduced me to the best spots on Clement Street and beyond. We kicked things off at a charming wine bar/coffee house, where Joyce treated us to baked goods from the bakery Bon Appétit crowned the best in the U.S.—saving us from the long line that wrapped around the block. From there, we explored three different dim sum spots, savored the famous Burmese tea leaf salad, and enjoyed Italian delights like porchetta, focaccia, and meatballs at a cozy bistro. By the end, I was absolutely stuffed and thrilled to walk it off while taking in the neighborhood. We strolled through an authentic Chinese market where Joyce shared tips on Asian ingredients and shopping. She even took us to a unique neighborhood bookstore and a florist workshop, adding so much variety to the experience. Along the way, Joyce gave us fascinating insights into the history and culture of the area, shared personal stories from her 30+ years living nearby, and provided excellent recommendations for restaurants and shops to explore further. This wasn’t a touristy tour—it felt like experiencing the neighborhood through the eyes of a local. I came away with a full stomach, a deeper appreciation for the area, and plans to come back and explore more. I highly recommend this experience!
