What a perfect introduction to some of the fabulous, off the beaten track, eateries in NYC. As a first time visitor to the city, I really wanted to get an insider's view of good places to eat. Food on Foot Midtown Mix tour did not disappoint. For Cory, our guide, food is a passion and I really think that sets this food tour apart from others I have been on. He is knowledgeable, funny and has a real knack for managing large tour groups, paying attention to each and every member of our group. I know I would not have visited any of the food places we stopped at had it not been for his introduction. The icing on the cake for me is that this tour helps to boost the local economy, supporting small independent eateries over the big bland chain restaurants!

Did this tour with my sister and Cory was a great guide who managed a fairly large group really well. We met at Penn Station and started off by having to introduce ourselves to each other which was a good ice breaker. He made a point of saying this was a social tour and it was about eating good food and socialising. We then went on the subway two stops uptown to 50th and 9th and then walked to all five stops from here. It is a long tour but the time didnā€™t drag on as we would walk a little and then stop to eat. Coryā€™s recommendations were great and he was well organised and made sure we were considerate to the rest of the public and didnā€™t get in their way. Left the tour with a full stomach and a takeaway bag of our sweet buys (couldnā€™t finish what we had bought!). Would highly recommend this tour if you like food and want to find some hidden gems. We were determined to avoid chain restaurants on this trip so appreciated the other recommendations Cory was able to give us.

I absolutely enjoyed the 'Food on Foot Tour'. If you are a foodie, this is a must do during your trip to NYC. Corey, our unique tour guide, showed us very special places that no tourist has ever seen (without him). We enjoyed three salty and two sweet meals. My favorite was a falafel from a inconspicuous diner which I probably would have walked by. I don't want to spoil too many details of the tour, as it is supposed to be a suprise. All I can say is, you'll love it! The food is awesome! Not only the food was amazing, but also Corey's authentic und funny appearance. He's a one-man show and also runs that one-man business with much passion. You really saw how much he enjoys food and to recommend his favorite places to others. Another part that I liked very much was how Corey set group members up so they can share dishes. I was there alone and he got me into contact to a group of sympathic people that came from canada and germany. We became quite good friends during the tour and stayed in conatct ever since. As Corey told us in the beginning, his tour is not only about food, but also about making friends. He made us present ourselves to the group and name the city we come from (the exact name, not just the area or the country). At first, I thought it is meaningless how my exact home town is called, because I am like a million miles away from home and noone in the States has ever heard of it. Turned out, most of the tour members came from germany as well. Many of them were from near my home town. So Corey definately changed my mind. You should do the tour on the beginning of your trip to NYC, so you can try some of his favorite restaurants. I highly recommend this food tour. You get amazing food, facts about the area and a three hour entertainment. Corey knows: the way to a persons heart is through its stomach.
