We arrived in the French quarter today, and planned to take a carriage ride to learn about this location. We had Shannon as our guide, and the longest term mule Pretty Boy. Shannon was very knowledgeable and humorous in his talking about the various sites. My husband and I in our previous visits learned to appreciate the lovely neighborhoods with historic and beautiful homes that we had never seen before. We also were able to view the rich history and architecture of this part the city. Arriving on Halloween weekend made things even more exciting.

I really wish I could say I enjoyed this carriage ride but I was very unhappy with the situation. The carriage was full and 2 of us who are larger guests were told to sit in the front with the driver. As he narrated the trip he was screaming in my right ear for a full hour which seemed like hours so the people who never stopped talking in the back could hear. I had to ride with my hand over my ear the whole time and wound up with a terrible earache for the remainder of the night. He was friendly and I guess knowledgeable about the tour but the constant yelling in my ear made this trip a less than worth it experience.
