This was a spectacular experience, and I highly recommend adding water activity to this otherwise arid landscape. Pre-boarding the transportation was clear and efficient. The shuttle bus ride was safe and clean. But the star of the show was the river and canyon country of course!
Our guide, Claire, brought the entire experience alive. She shared gems of information about geology, local history, and her personal favorite experiences in the region. She was very clear when it was safe for us to swim in the river and when to return to the boat. Lunch was also set up quickly and hit the spot. If you can request Claire as your guide, you will be rewarded.
At the time we rafted the river, the current was relatively slow and the water level was low. As a result, the whitewater was Class I-III and very manageable for inexperienced rafters.
If you are going to spend day hiking Arches or Canyonlands, cool off in the Colorado River on the second day. Your body will thank you.
