Full Day Hike in Joshua Tree National Park

Overview
I am a 20 year resident of the Mojave Desert and log 200 miles annually on foot within Joshua Tree National Park. Over the years and miles I've cultivated an awareness of landscape, ecological systems, and local culture that when contextualized by the trail becomes a narrative experience I'm eager to share.
I landed in Joshua Tree after dropping out of college in 2001. Back then you arrived by chance or a friend of a friend said you had to check out the rocks, feel the energy, and camp under the stars.
I fell in with the gathering characters, an assortment of dirtbag climbers, avant artists, practical new age visionaries, and entrepreneurs...an amalgam of identities that would go on to create the image of the High Desert that is so coveted today.
I am legally permitted to guide within Joshua Tree National Park and happy to host you. I know my stuff and I want you to know it too.

I traveled solo to Joshua Tree and had one of the most memorable experiences of my life getting to explore the park with my guide, Sarah. She was so incredibly knowledgeable about the park, its geology, the plants and animals we saw, and the area in general. She is a local and itā€™s very evident that she knows her stuff. We had a wonderful day exploring the rock formations in the Wonderland, and Sarah was always so supportive in making sure I felt safe and comfortable with anything we did. She lent me a raincoat when we experienced some unexpected snow on the peaks, and she even drove me around in her car to explore some of the more distant parts of the park. I learned so much about the park and the area after our full-day hike, and this experience has inspired me to continue traveling and visiting more amazing places. Just wish I could take Sarah with me to show me around all these parks! She was truly the best guide I could have had for the trip, and this experience was one of the highlights of my solo trip to So Cal. Highly recommend or for sure!

Thank you Travis for the outstanding naturalist hiking experience. My husband, 19 y/o son and I loved every minute of your knowledge on desert botany, geology, entomology, Native American history and overall love of beautiful Joshua Tree NP. Highlight of our trip

I canā€™t think of a better guide than Travis . We spent 2.5 days exploring three parts of Joshua Tree National Park with him and were astounded by his enthusiasm, knowledge, curiosity, and kindness. He offered the perfect blend of education and silence so we could appreciate the incredible natural beauty of JT. Especially appreciated how he was so many aspects of geography, plants, anthropology, climate and much more into an educational lesson which helped cement everything that we learned and Our time exploring with Travis also taught us a lesson that we knew, but werenā€™t mindful of: that every step we take is important and that we need to be mindful of how we affect the world around us and how seemingly small differences in where we step and what we do can affect worlds. It's incredibly empowering and a great responsibility that we appreciated. Thank you again for a special time.
