We rented the kayak for the day, but were only on the water for an hour.
We drove there. It takes a while to get all the paperwork done, learn where to go/stay away from, the rules, practice putting a life vest on properly, etc.
If they tell you to go check the beach (water/waves) and come back, do it! We didn't and there was no way we could get in the water because the waves were so strong. Thankfully, there was a side canal they told us about and the water was calm, no one else was there, and it was beautiful to see all the homes along the water.
We went to the wrong parking lot as we missed the 1st one. This was MUCH better because we were next to the small canal that we used.
I am 48 and my mom is 66. So we had to ask passing guys to help us load and unload the kayak. I had no problem doing this, but some might.
After all of the above, we got a really late start. But it ended up fine as an hour of paddling was more than enough for 2 older women who are out of shape! It was a great experience.
*Bring water shoes or rent them.
*Have a change of clothes or you will regret it (like me).
*Get the dry bag or bring your own.
Do this when you are in Oahu. You won't regret it.
Next time I'd take a guided tour.
