Georgetown Brewery Tour

Overview

Tour includes Lowercase Brewing, Jellyfish Brewing company and Elysian Brewing Taproom.

Founded in 1851 Georgetown is arguably Seattle’s oldest neighborhood. By the 1880’s it became the sixth largest beer producing district in the world and the center of Seattle’s early brewing industry. Now, with many of its 19th Century buildings still intact, Georgetown has experienced a revival as a hip neighborhood in a city of hipsters. Georgetown is now an important hub in the Northwest’s craft brewing community and a pretty cool place to have a beer.

At each brewery our Cicerone certified Beer Guide will lead a guided tasting of four, 4-once beers, for a total of 12 different beers. This is about 3 pints of beer.

As of mid-March, King County is no longer requiring proof of vaccination or mandatory face masks. BUT the situation is volatile, and restrictions may be reinstated at any time. It would be wise to travel with a mask just in case. Your guide is fully vaccinated.

What To Expect

Jellyfish Brewing

Among the old warehouses and industrial buildings of Georgetown nestles Jellyfish Brewing. If there were a Seattle Brewery Family Tree, Jellyfish would have deep roots extending back to 1988 and Seattle’s original brew pub, the U-district’s Big Time Brewery. Their experienced brew masters have worked in craft breweries in Port Townsend, Austin, Denver, Seattle and Italy. Of course, the proof is in the glass and their beer is quite a treat. Lowercase Brewing

Our tour ends at Lowercase Brewing, just around the corner from Georgetown’s Old City Hall. This is not a brewery that puts on airs. It doesn’t pretend to be an academy, or a science lab, or anything other than a brewery that makes good beer. It is one of the growing number of breweries that offers a couple of year-round lagers on-tap. If you do know why that is special, then you really need to come on the tour.

Had a great time and learned a lot from Tim. Hearing the history behind many of the different types of beers as well as about Seattle and the Georgetown area was very interesting.

Tim’s “tour de pour” is Seattle at its “Hoppiest!” Tim’s tour will leave you full of knowledge, laughter…and beer “to boot!” Tim is a real beer expert “straight from the tap!” So use your “head!” Don’t be a “stick in the mug!!” Take “flight” with Tim and have a “barrel of laughs!!” 5 Star “Ex-BEER-ience!!”
