Ghosts of Charleston Night-Time Walking Tour with Unitarian Church Graveyard

Overview
Come walk with us on The Ghosts of Charleston walking tour, leaving nightly from Buxton Books, Charleston’s independent bookstore located at 160 King Street.

Our licensed guides are expert storytellers who lead you through centuries old alleys and paths while sharing stories and solid history from Julian Buxton’s best-selling book, The Ghosts of Charleston. The true tales of intrigue, tragedy, and lost love reveal a rich underside of Charleston’s character that isn’t apparent during the day.

The highlight of your tour is our exclusive nighttime access to the 18th century Unitarian Church Graveyard, where you will experience something magical. The Ghosts of Charleston is Buxton Books’ signature and most popular book-based walking tour -- a favorite of visitors and locals for over 23 years.

What To Expect
1
Tour Charleston
During our 90 minute walking ghost tour, our City of Charleston licensed tour guides recount hauntings and supernatural events from our best-selling book The Ghosts of Charleston. We are fortunate to have many repeat guests, and lots of tales to share, so we switch things up nightly by varying ghosts stories on every tour. There is no experience like walking enchanted Charleston at night, listening to our supernatural stories, and encountering what you will see and hear in the Unitarian Church Graveyard.

Unitarian Church in Charleston
The highlight of Tour Charleston's Ghosts of Charleston Tour is entering the lush, spellbinding Unitarian Church Graveyard built in 1772. Real time hauntings occur only a handful of times a year. However, since 1996, when we started what is now Charleston's oldest ghost tour, spirits in the Unitarian Church Graveyard have reached out to many people on our tour in visual, tactile and auditory ways.

The tour was amazing and Simone was a terrific guide . He told us to take pics to see if we catch any orbs. I took pics throughout the tour but did not look at all of them because I was listening to the stories. The last story that Simone told us about was Edgar Allen Poe and I took pics as I did throughout the tour. I get back to my hotel and look at the pics and I saw something !! Simone if you see this please give me your opinion on this pic . P.S I’m Joe’s wife from west palm beach we did the tour at 730 pm June 16 th .

Joe was a wonderful tour guide. He really brought to life the ghost stories and tales. There was so much history woven into the tour and we had a great experience. Highly recommend requesting Joe for this tour!

Rhett was our guide, and he is the most amazing storyteller. The tour is a mix of history and ghost stories, which we felt enhanced the ghost stories. I cannot say enough good things about this tour. We did the 8:30, which was perfect as it started as it was just getting dark and ended in the graveyard in complete darkness. Rhett’s stories at each stop we made had the entire group hanging on his every word. Really, don’t miss out on this! Our group consisted of 2 adults and 2 adult children (23 and 19). We all loved it, despite some in the group being believers and some non-believers.
