Ghosts of Georgetown Walking Tour

Overview
Deep, dark secrets about a forgotten past lie among the manicured gardens and Victorian row houses of DC’s finest neighborhood.

Historical figures stayed here, documenting their experiences in letters & journals. Some have never left, haunting these grand homes to this day.

On this family-friendly nighttime tour, you will learn about this town and be enchanted by its past, present, and future. Halloween vibes all year long.

-Hear stories of a young boy trapped after his accidental death in the oldest residence in DC.

-Learn what happened in Civil War hospitals that make an apartment seem unliveable.

-Learn about the curse of Abraham Lincoln's son.

-Hear a story of a nanny's undying love for her charges - and her rules.

-See lights flicker at a house whose past resident hated electricity and whose ghost haunts our guides.

-End the tour at the famous Exorcist Steps and hear how this movie was based on a true local story. Do you dare to walk down the creepy stairs at night?

Our host shared some interesting history about Georgetown and those that have lived there. It was more of a walking tour of interesting facts....not really a ghost walk. Our tour guide was really trying, but just not a storyteller. The entertainment value was missing. He was very long winded. He had a hard time getting to the actual point of his stories... the ghosts. Several of the stops had no ghosts at all in the stories. Overall, it was disappointing.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on the tour. I'm sorry to hear that it did not meet your expectations of a ghost tour. We do advertise this tour as a mix of history, humor and haunts. We try to set our tours apart from made up stories told by actors, as we are historians and share true (or as true as they believed in the 19th c) stories, however we do want all our guides to be able to deliver those stories well. We only know how to improve with feedback from guests so your constructive comments will help us ensure that future guests have a better experience with our guides. I hope you enjoyed your visit to DC nonetheless.

This tour exceeded expectations for an enjoyable evening. It was the right mix of history and humor. The tour had families with young kids, adults, and one obvious first date. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. Melissa has done a lot of research and could answer any question given to her but always with the skill of a storyteller. It was a refreshing activity after a day of museums and I think the whole group learned a lot about DC and Georgetown history without knowing it. I highly recommend the tour with Melissa.
