It was a beautiful sunny day in San Francisco. I rent the go car for 3 hours. Unfortunately, half hour into the trip the GPS stopped working and we had to navigate our way back using a street map. It was hectic and nerve wracking as the traffic in San Francisco is heavy. The gentleman at the rental was sorry for this problem, offered us a free trip and told me I had to go through viator for refund. I called viator and Michelle, within 5 minutes on the phone refunded me the full cost. I would recommend this tour despite our difficulty as the half hour the gps worked, it took us on some beautiful sites.

Vehicles were easy to operate and fun. However, we did our tour on a Sunday and were not told that many streets would be blocked off. When we encountered blocked off streets, we had to go off route. The GPS unit in the car does NOT re-route you. It only picks up your directions once you get back on the route. Therefor, we spent much of the first half of the tour looking at the map. Also, three hours was not long enough to complete the tour. We had to cut it short to avoid returning vehicle late. I would recommend picking up your vehicles in fisherman's wharf, this will save you a half an hour.

Honestly don't even read the rest of what I write. Go right now and book it if you're planning to visit San Fran. You won't regret it Really one of the best tours I've done anywhere. I must mention at the top of this review, I was absolutely nervous and apprehensive a week out from the trip. I had a small advantage. I'm Australian but I'd moved to Los Angeles for about 2 months before I did the tour, I had a car, so I was well up with American traffic (LA is a great way to throw yourself in the deep end). Honestly though, I think every single person can do this and will take away some great photos and memories. You get instructions while you sit in one of the cars on a small video screen. This is cool because you can see all the components of the GoCar while the video shows it to you. I was still very nervous, it is much like a motorbike with the handles, so coupled with traffic in a different city and everything else, I was worried. I cannot remember who got us on our way and set us up but he was very easy going and cool. He showed us again basically how to operate it and said "as soon as you make the first turn and go up the street you will be fine." He sets you on your way and he is completely right. After the first right turn it was smooth sailing and very easy to follow. The GPS guide is amazing you honestly can't get lost, well we did once and had to physically turn the GoCar because there is no reverse gear, but that's the fun of it. It is unlike a normal GPS and tells you exactly where you need to turn and be at exactly the right time. You can stop wherever you like, for a decent amount of time and get some cool photos. You get to see the major attractions and even drive down Lombard Street. A good tip is to pack some gloves and wear more clothing than the day dictates. It was a nice spring day, sun was out, yet my hands and body were bloody freezing. When we got out of the car it was then warm. Do. This. Tour. Don't be whimp like me because you'll regret it. You get to go out to the presidio , South Bay, China Beach, Golden Gate Park and see a lot of cool attractions others might miss. Great tour, best I did in San Francisco by a long way. Pay the money, do the tour, get some some photos, love life and tell everyone you know how cool it is
